November 13 Opening Night Vocal Soloists

Bach wrote God Is My Refuge (Gott ist mein König) BWV 71 for the inauguration of the new Mühlhausen town council. The town council liked it so much, that they paid to print it. This was Bach’s first printed work.

It is a grand affair with baroque trumpets and tympani, singers and festive orchestra. Perfect music for after the election.

Fall brings the start of rehearsals for the Bach Collegium Singers for our November 13 concert. Bach’s Credo from the Mass in B minor is a particular favorite. Last week was the resurrection. This week, the crucifixion and Holy Spirit. Next week, who knows?
