The Bach Collegium chorus numbers between 30 and 50 singers. All participants are chosen by audition, which is arranged through appointment with the Artistic Director.

Interested singers can use the form on our Contact Us page to request an audition or call Daniel Reuning at (260) 485-2143. Singers should review the requirements and download the documents needed for an audition below.

Requirement 1

Sing the following, using solfège, letter names, or random syllables: the major scale the minor scale (natural, harmonic, and melodic). Download scales PDF

Requirement 2

Sing your voice part in J.S. Bach’s chorale setting of “Lord Jesus Christ, All Praise to Thee” (“Gelobet seist du, Jesu Christ”). Download sheet music PDF

Requirement 3

Sing your voice part in a chorus of your choosing from Handel’s “Messiah” or some other contrapuntal setting.

Requirement 4

Sight-read your voice part in another Bach chorale setting.


  • Tuesdays 7:15 to 9:30 p.m. as set forth in the schedule before each concert segment
  • Each singer is expected to attend every Tuesday evening rehearsal, as well as all required dress rehearsals with the orchestra.               
  • Location: Redeemer Lutheran Church, 202 W. Rudisill Blvd. (2 blocks west of Clinton Street)

Make-up rehearsals

If a singer is unable to attend a Tuesday rehearsal, the singer must notify the director relating to the absence and to arrange to make-up the rehearsal either the following Sunday or by appointment. These are not substitute choral practices, and may not be used an as alternative to regularly-scheduled Tuesday evening rehearsals.
